Microsoft Courier is the still secret device developed by Microsoft which is supposed to beat the ipad. They say (i still have no proofs of that) microsoft is doing things quite well. According to this video which shows the interface (or at least a prototype) of this last device, this can be true.
The interface is just amazing.I think the use of the pencil in its natural way is a good choice (won’t be there any problem with character recognition?). Actually, this is far away from others interfaces for multitouch devices we are so used to see. It is not an evolution of the pda or iphone.
What I really like from this interfaces is that its a beginning where everything are objects which can be combined each other and the result is depending on which objects you are combining.
It is not the same if you drag a photo to a device (maybe you wanted to transfer o sharing) or to a contact (you want to email it) or a web url (you will want it to upload).
Another amazing thing are the gestures and the use of both multitouch screen for that. They seem to be more in a natural way. You have an active and another pasive screen (to store things, writing down, whatever). No more contextual menus! Just swipe!
Ok, I know, it is just a prototype. But it looks like Microsoft’s guys are doing their homeworks.

The graphics are inspired in the video game Rez developed by Sega and conceptualized by Tetsuya Mizuguchi.
Here you can find the source code. You need OpenFrameworks to run it and ofxMSAShape3D class by Mega Super Awesome Visual Company. Place your own mp3 file into the “data” folder, turn your speaker on and… Enjoy!
