The guys from The No Interaction Project and Cristian Bettini bring us a really nice project about the history hidden on the street of Barcelona city, hidden in the peoples memories, and now we are able to enjoy all those secrets. They called » Invisible Maps.

Invisible Maps is a map of the Barcelona’s invisible assets. Using QR codes, highlights events and places and interact with the land and its history through mobile technology.

Over time and years the city has changed a lot, each new layer hides the above. Citizen participation then takes a new value: the objective is to recover hidden memories in the minds of people, thousands of fragments that are rebuilt and located in the city leaving us better understand the urban environment that surrounds us.

Invisible Maps Barcelona presents a vision of focusing on this participation, highlighting events and places that have profoundly personal experiences. Thus, it creates a map of the city’s invisible assets. QR codes using the opportunity to interact with the land and its history through mobile technology.

I used Instagram to build this panorama image of the studio’s view. Roll over each individual image to see it.

Earlier this week Aer went with Catalan electronic musician, bRUNA, to participate in Sónar’s first venture (that I’m aware of) into the U.S… specifically, The Windy City, Chi Town, a.k.a Chicago. The performance was held in the majestic Chicago Cultural Center with it’s over 100 year old Tiffany Co. massive stained glass domes. As in Barcelona, we provided the visual accompaniment for bRUNA’s bright electronic music. Unfortunately, do to budget limitations we were unable to take the light table that everyone loved from the Barcelona performance. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We adjusted by bringing the over-sized projection screen closer to bRUNA and therefore giving all the protagonism to the now HUGE visuals. bRUNA and Hector were swimming ceiling to floor in lights, patterns and glitches. It made all the difference. We missed the light table, but as serendipity would have it, we would have never seen the visuals in that way if it weren’t for the budget constraints.

As a side note, go to Chicago! The architecture is stunning, the people VERY friendly and there is music and art everywhere.

JNJN
Just around the corner of our studio: Streetart by JN, anybody knows who JN is? or have you seen some similar around? Who ever it is: Thanks for spicing up Poble nou!
Spirit of Barcelona
Does it explain the spirit of Barcelona? Nice piece of information about the philosophy of Barcelona from Adbusters “Barcelona is both a state of disorder and a utopian society.”
